The Silent City — Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, 2020
Los Angeles, March 2020. Grand Avenue was empty.
The Walt Disney Concert Hall — Frank Gehry's masterpiece of folded stainless steel — stood completely alone for the first time in its existence. No tourists. No concertgoers. No traffic. No city noise. Just the building, the light, and a silence that felt like it belonged to another era.
Photographed during the COVID lockdown of 2020, when Grand Avenue fell silent and the city emptied. The edit deepens what was already there — Gehry's panels were built to hold light dramatically, and stripping the colour and darkening the sky strips the image down to its essence: steel, form, and silence
